When Hans Sommeregger was approximately 5 years old his wolfhound Rolf died.

He was mourned for his dog for a long time as they had been extremely close to each other.

Mr Sommeregger has always been fascinating with breeding. As a child he breed rabbits and other rodents.

At approximately 10 years of age a cousin of his father’s came to visit with a blue coloured grey hound. Hans Sommeregger was really taken by the beautiful colour of the dog and he started dreaming about breeding a German Shepard of this colour.

At the age of 25 years when he say some silver-grey Persian Blues he remembered his childhood dream and started breeding with a variety of different types of Shepard dogs.

He only took the very best dogs for his breeding and he never forgot the goal of breeding a silverblue Shepherd dog. After about 20 years of research and 10 years of careful breeding the reward can now be seen.

For Mr Sommeregger a dream came true as the first silver-blue Shepherd dog was born.

The Blue Mountain Shepherd belongs to the category of Shepherd dogs. It is very intelligent, faithful, family-friendly and is especially suitable for moderate and colder climates.

Special traits  are the naturally pointed ears and their beautiful poise. Today breeding lines exist and the demand is on the increase. The most noble colour is silverblue, but there also are other beautiful colours like black-clue, chestnut-brown or crème. Mr Sommeregger had started with pedigree breeding and currently works towards recognition of dog breeding associations. This may however take some time (compare with other breeds of dog).
