Body:

General appearance
The Blue Mountain Shepherd is slightly elongated, muscular, with dry bones, and are generally compact dogs.

Size and weigth
A fully grown Blue Mountain Shepherd reaches a shoulder height of 60-70 cm and a weight of 30-38 kg.

Character
The Blue Muntain Shepherd is well balanced, noble, with nerves of steel, self confident, open and generally good natured (except when it gets teased badly), further they are very attentive and can be trained easily, so that its owner feels a sense of security.

The muzzle
should be black.

The teeth
should be strong, healthy and complete. The Blue Mountain Shepherd has scissor-like teeth which means that the incisors should come together like scissors. Bigger gaps between the teeth are considered to be faulty as well as when the teeth close incorrectly. The jaw bones should be strong so as to allow for the teeth to be deeply imbedded in the jawbone.

The eyes
are of medium size, almond shaped, slightly inclined and not sticking out. The colour of the eyes should amber-like. Bright stabbing eyes are not desirable because they disturb the appearance of the dog.

The ears
are pointing straight up and are a particular feature of its noble appearance.

The body
from the bottom of the neck a straight line over its back until it curves slightly downwards at the end of the back. The back is not too long, but strong and muscular. The loin is short, broad, well developed and muscular

The chest
should not be too wide, the bottom part of the chest should be elongated and well developed.

The paws
are of a round shape, well closed and curved, the soles are hard but not brittle, the nails are strong and dark and pointing forward.

The tail
reaches reaches approximately as far as the ankle joint. The tail sways in the shape of a slight bow but when the dog is excited or moving it will be lifted slightly, however, never higher than a horizontal line. No corrections through operation.

The gait
The Blue Mountain Shepherd / Palatinus is a trotter. Its limbs have to be coordinated in terms of length and angles , so that it can move the line of its back up until the rump in such a way as not to change the line noticeably and simultaneously reach out properly with its forelegs.

Depending on the conditions of the surroundings the dog walks in a manner which takes in considerable space while looking rather effortless. Its head is moved slightly forward and its tail is raised slightly while it moves evenly and quietly in a peaceful trot.

The hair
 of the Blue Mountain Shepherd is long.

The Blue Mountain Shepherd  comes in different shades amongst which silver blue is the most desirable.
